It’s a great alternative to Uber or Lyft ridesharing gigs when you want to use your own vehicle to make money without having to deal with passengers.
If it’s available where you live and you’re signed up for Amazon delivery, the next question you might be asking is about Amazon Flex Blocks.
Taking the time to fully understand how Amazon’s block scheduling process works will ensure you know exactly how many hours you need to create a gig worth your income.
In this article, you will learn everything you need to know, such as how long Amazon Flex blocks last, how many orders can be placed in a block, how much Amazon Flex blocks pay, and when they will be available.
Because you can only work the number of hours allotted to each block, it’s important to understand your scheduling options and responsibilities.
You pick up household items and groceries from your local Amazon fulfillment station and typically work three to six hour block shifts.
However, you can expect to place 35 to 80 orders during a three-hour flex block.
Signing up for Prime Now and Amazon Fresh delivery offer blocks are generally more expensive than delivering packages with Amazon’s regular service.
This may be because Amazon wants to ensure that its drivers are properly compensated for the hours they work.
If you live in a large metropolitan area, you can expect to receive a higher average hourly rate than someone living in a smaller city.
Blocks are released daily and are available on a first-come, first-served basis. It is your responsibility to arrange your schedule.
Amazon offers filtering options so that you can sort items according to your personal needs.
Filter by station and time of day to see only the blocks you find most useful.

An important difference to keep in mind is that Amazon Flex is not designed for a full-time schedule for every Flex employee.
If you’re hoping to make a full-time income as an independent contractor delivery driver, you’re likely to be disappointed.
You can skip pre-programmed blocks and even cancel blocks as an Amazon Flex driver in the Amazon Flex app.
If you miss a block at least 45 minutes before it starts, Amazon will not penalize you for it.
If you get into the habit of skipping existing blocks or canceling them after you’ve placed them in your program, you’ll run into problems.

Once you reach level 2, you will see even more profitable reserve offers in the Amazon schedule area.

Flexible income opportunities are endless for anyone with a smartphone and a car these days, but not all apps are created equal.
If you want to know if working as an Amazon delivery driver is right for you, you should know how the Amazon Flex app works from the initial installation to the delivery of the first package.
If you haven’t heard of Amazon Flex before, it’s a delivery driver program that allows independent contractors to earn money using their own vehicles on their own schedule.
Amazon Flex drivers play a vital role in supporting the company’s full-time operations when demand is highest โ while earning the highest hourly wages in the gig economy.
But no matter how enticing the job description, an app’s interface can make or break the driving experience.
The Amazon Flex app is the platform that the app’s delivery partners use to manage and complete their delivery shifts, as well as their revenue and account information.
Like the Postmates flat app, this mobile app is an essential tool for anyone looking to monetize the platform.
Before we get started, note that the Amazon Flex app is a bit buggy, despite being powerful from one of the world’s biggest brands.
If you continue and encounter problems along the way, you may need to stop and try to sign out and back in, uninstall and reinstall the platform, or Amazon Flex if that doesn’t work. Contact support.
In this section, we’ll explain which phone models are actually capable of running the platform properly, as well as how to download and install the app on iOS and Android.
Amazon Flex requires Apple users to have a smartphone running iOS 11.0 or later. iPhone 5s and newer models are generally eligible.
Note: The App Store listing states that the app requires at least iOS 13.0 to run, so Amazon’s written smartphone requirements may be met.
If you meet these conditions, you can go through this Android app download process, which is a little more complicated than a normal Google Play Store download:
The Amazon Flex app is really the only place you can sign up to be a driver for the delivery service.
Fortunately, the in-app sign-up process is quite simple, as long as you meet all the basic Amazon Flex requirements.
Allow the permission requested by the Amazon Flex app, then tap Get Started to answer a few eligibility questions, including your zip code, availability, and vehicle type.
If you qualify, you can go ahead and provide the required documents, tax information, and bank account information before the background check is approved.
If Amazon Flex Concert is not available in your area, you can join the waiting list.
Once you’re fully approved and signed into the Amazon Flex program, you can use the platform to schedule your first delivery block.
These are work shifts that last between 2 and 6 hours and are available seven days a week.
All Flex drivers must pre-book to deliver and earn available blocks, as this is not a fully on-demand platform (although some last-minute shifts may be available).
To schedule a delivery block, simply go to the ‘Offers’ section of your app and tap the block you want, then swipe to accept.
When you accept a delivery block, it will appear in the “Calendar” section of the Amazon Flex app.
If you can’t make a shift, make sure you tap on the correct shift in this section and tap on “Feet Shift” at least 45 minutes before the start time.
One hour before your shift starts, the Amazon Flex app will show your starting location.
To get there, the company recommends using its in-app navigation to get there, but many drivers prefer to just pull up their favorite navigation app, since Amazon Flex’s directions aren’t always as intuitive as they should be. There are other operating systems.
When you arrive at the pickup location โ usually a designated pickup station, Amazon shelf, or warehouse โ follow whatever prompts are necessary, then tap I’m in.
An employee will then greet you and scan your access code, then direct you to the delivery items you need to pick up.
During the delivery process, you must use the in-app navigation to follow the route and complete the delivery.
When you arrive at any delivery destination, all you need to do is scan the appropriate packages and choose where to drop off the package.
If you leave the package unattended, you should take a picture of it or sign for it if you’re leaving.
